Accessibility isn't a bolt-on for Kalea — a voice-first companion that a six-year-old, a grandparent, or someone who can't use a screen can all talk to is the product. We hold this website to the same standard.

We want every person — regardless of ability, device, or assistive technology — to be able to learn about Kalea, understand what she does, and buy one. We are working to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which is the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), U.S. Section 508, the European Accessibility Act (EN 301 549), and most comparable regimes worldwide.
Kalea is designed for a wide range of needs by its very nature: she is voice-first, so no screen, keyboard, mouse, or fine motor control is required for the core experience; her physical controls are large, tactile knobs and sliders rather than a touchscreen; an age slider and adjustable output settings let a caregiver tune her to the person; and for Deaf or hard-of-hearing users, she can be read and reached as text over off-grid messaging. She is intended to be used with a caregiver in the loop where appropriate.
Kalea is an early-stage product and this site is under active development, so some areas may not yet fully conform. We are prioritizing a full audit against WCAG 2.1 AA — including a color-contrast pass, screen-reader testing, and captions/transcripts for any video we add — before launch. If you hit a barrier we haven't caught, please tell us; real reports are the fastest path to a fix.
If any part of this site or our products is difficult to use with your assistive technology, email kalea@openkalea.com with the page and what went wrong. We treat accessibility reports as priority issues and will work with you to provide the information or complete the transaction another way.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact us again for escalation. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports promptly and resolve substantive barriers as quickly as we reasonably can. [ref: confirm any jurisdiction-specific enforcement-body language and response-time commitments with counsel before launch.]
